Dried flower roses and rose oil | 薔薇のドライフラワーとローズオイル

While having a rose garden at home, caring and gardening the roses can be rewarding but also relentless. Once the roses commence it’s bloom, the garden is well looked after by my husband, while my daily chores (as an assistant) is cleaning and sweeping. As the flowers fade to the end of life, the petal feather down, especially during the rain, moist and wind. To save the flowers for a little while longer, the flowerpots are often rushed for cover protection from the rain. Dead flowers take away the vista of the rose garden. The treasure of having a rose garden is of course, the everyday beauty of blossoms, a picturesqueness at times seems endless. However, every organic life has its limits, as we do. To preserve the beauteousness the house turns into a shelter for ‘dry roses’. 見事な薔薇園になった今年。主人は10年近く薔薇を大切に植えていますがやっとコツがわかった！と自負。自負ができるほど今年は素晴らしく咲いた年を言えると思います。 「咲かせるのは男の仕事」・「綺麗にするのは女の仕事」という分担で春の一ヶ月間はほぼ毎朝お庭の掃除に明け暮れる日々が続きました。花は雨、風を嫌います。綺麗は花は旬をすぎると朽ちていきます。花びらが散ります。それを片付けます。そんな繰り返しかな？（笑） 花の時期を見ながら「ドライフラワー」作りもしてみました。３分咲きのもの、５分咲きのもの、７分咲きのもの。いろいろと試してみると多々の形状に残っていくものです。色も残るお花と黒くなっていく花と色々とあり、発見を楽しんでいきます。 Another challenge, tried this year is making ‘rose oils’. Past spring, our rose garden (to be precise, my husband’s rose garden) was of heavenly beauty. My husband has been growing roses nearly over a decade but this year seemed to be of utmost beauty. This is a post is a gallery of our garden roses, to brighten the rainy season, commenced last week. Enjoy! 梅雨が始まり、太陽がすっかりと隠れてしまいました。この雨の季節、気持ちが落ち込み気味になる方は多いのではないでしょうか？　ましてや、この季節がさると暑い、暑い、日本の夏が訪れます。 今年の春、我が家の庭な「バラ園」と言っても過言ではないほどの薔薇に包まれました。長年、多くの薔薇をそだてきた主人のお庭ですが見事でとても綺麗な薔薇の数々をお楽しみください。雨で少しでも気分が晴れることをお祈りして。

Spring has arrived…|春の到来です

Oh dear……time flies. Each month seemed busier than the previous, for reasons not prefer to mention specifically but to be blunt…’a natural ebb and flow of life’. Anyway my last post was (way) over a month ago, disengaged from the habit of blogging nevertheless it has been on my ‘to do list’. I hope to grow back into the habit of blog posting upon the arrival of spring and the beautiful cherry blossoms yet in full bloom in some areas of Japan. なんだか、、 あっという間に月日が経ち、、 久しぶりの投稿です。 気がつくと「春」。そして今年も日本列島は桜で大騒ぎ。 我が家の近辺は桜が多し。 いつも特別なお花見なぞせずですが山梨に野菜に買いに行ったついでに、、いつも素通りする「神代桜」に立ち寄ってみたら、、ほっ、ほっ、ほっ、ラッキーに樹齢2000年の桜「満開」でした！     This cherry blossom is approximately 2000 years old, ‘Jindai Sakura’ in Yamanashi prefecture.           What our small garden looks like…..

It’s been a while blogging… I’ve been quite disturbed over the past month or so, to admit that the US Presidential Election has kept me unfocused on the everyday things which I normally would do. Although I no longer live in California, I’ve spend a good 15 plus years in the States and the unexpected outcome of the election has kept me to feel the pain of my Californian friends, their disappointment, fear and above all what to expect come January 20th 2017. The outcome, not much we can all do except move forward and the words of President Obama told his daughters are quite comforting to console our hearts as well. だいぶご無沙汰してしまったブログです。 ちょっと習慣が抜けるとついつい。 その内アメリカの大統領選が始まり、長年カリフォルニアに在住していた私とはやはり気になるゆくえでした。まさかの、まさかの勝利。さすがに落ち込みました。まさかが起きるアメリカではありますが、、あってはいけない結果だった様な気がします。 アメリカにまだ住んでいる友達の事を思うと気は落ち着かず（今でもですが、、）トランプ時期大統領のニュースばかり追ってしまいます。 しかし、オバマ大統領が娘たちに言った言葉という記事を読み少し心が落ち着きました。英語の記事ですがご興味のあるかたは是非。 ブログをお休み中にはInstagramでアップした画像を中心に今日は書き下ろしていきます。 So here are some of Dinner Menus which has been uploaded through my Instagram. Rainy season is here. June Garden | 梅雨のガーデン

Rainy season has arrived…… which means – lot of rain (obviously) which means – very humid (obviously) but the ‘Hydrangeas’ all come to life, our garden blossoming with large snowball Hydrangeas. I’m not a flower but just love shooting flowers and it’s magnificent and fine details. Enjoy!   いよいよ、、梅雨ですね。 梅雨が大好きな人はあまり身近にいないのですが、梅雨が一番好きだという声は『紫陽花』から聞こえてきます。雨とともに勢いつけながらおおぶりの花がどんどん開花していきます。 今日初めて天気予報士から知りましたが、花は『真花』を基準開花をジャッジするそうです。紫陽花の『真花』とは花の芯の小さな花のことだそうです。知らない事だらけです（笑） ６月の草花、、楽しんでください。   (not a hydrangea)　（これは紫陽花ではありません） flowers…along the riverside….　（川沿いの草花） my favorite ‘petite ivy’….　わたしの大好きな草。プチアイビー。10センチほどの小さな草にアイビーが必死に巻き付いて上にのびようと頑張っています。   Our watch bird….我家の監視鳥。   my kitchen herb garden… lemon balm, pineapple mint, parsley,  basil キッチンのハーブガーデン（レモンバーム、パイナップルミント、パセリ、バジル）   our roof garden… rucola and basil… ルーフガーデンにはバジルとルッコラを種から。やっと大きくなってきました。   apple mint… そして、アップルミント。   bay leaf….. 月桂樹の木は新緑中。   one of my husband’s favorite rose…Ventilo 主人の大好きなローズ『ヴァンテロ』   our orchid blossoming again… 今年も蘭が咲きました。

Our Garden before Rain Season to come | 梅雨前のお花たち

Spring seems so short…. especially with the climatic changes we are experiencing in Japan. Soon the rainy season arrive before the extreme summer heat. June to come is the most humid season and the ‘hydrangea’ are the ones rejoicing and welcoming the rain. Our small garden is full of different type of ‘hydrangea’ (don’t ask me the name of it…) getting ready for full blossom to replace the early spring bloomers. Manicured everyday by my husband and our little (not much of a ) lazy daisy…watchdog. 春と感じる日はここ数年本当に少なくなりました。みんなが待ち望む春の気候は本当に少なくなり、太陽が顔を出すとアッという間に25℃を越す夏日。まだ、夜は気温が下がるので助かりますがゴールデンウィークを過ぎるとたちまち、、我家のプチガーデンは梅雨の気配を伝えてくれます。 紫陽花（あじさい）が花芽をつけ始め、春の花が少しずつ後退をしていきます。 花に癒される人。 我家の(一応)番犬に癒される人。 道逝く人ご近所のご年配のたまり場に時々なっています。 都会の郊外のちょっとした心落ち着く空間になってくれてといいけれど。
